For an unforgettable weekend of excitement and the best family entertainment value around, head for the action-packed Tishman Speyer Properties Kids’ Park at the Mountain View Art & Wine Festival, September 12-13 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Castro Street. Located in the Wells Fargo parking lot, at Church and Castro Streets, the fun and games for youngsters of all ages will include everything from thrilling virtual reality motion theater and a 24-foot climbing wall to groovy temporary tattoos and creative hands-on art activities.

Stop by Friendly Felipe’s bustling booth offering playful sand sculptures where kids scoop different colored sand into plastic, animal-shaped bottles. When finished, the bottles are topped off with animal heads, like frogs, alligators and tigers, and become a truly creative creature keepsake. Aspiring princesses can select from his beautiful selection of wands and crowns. Felipe will show you how to make your very own unique wax hand. First, you dip your hand into hot wax forming a mold of your hand. Next, you dip your hand into any or all of eight different colors, creating a wax hands design all your own.

Kids and adults alike will enjoy Mobile Rock’s menacing 24-foot Climbing Wall where trained climbing technicians will be available to show you the ropes. The wall is color coded to assist climbers, from the youngest to the most advanced, make it to the to the top. You and your friends will experience the adventure of a lifetime on Y3k Simulators computerized thrill ride. It combines wind, sound and outlandish motion, all synchronized to a breathtakingly large movie screen.

Surprise your family and friends and have some fun with a temporary tattoo. Satvir Bhogal is hands-down the best henna tattoo artist around. They specialize in original works of temporary body art. Henna tattooing is an all-natural, pain-free and temporary form of body art. This 5000 year-old practice originated in Egypt where it was used to dye the entire body, nails and hair. As henna made its way to India, the paste was applied to the skin with a stick in intricate designs for sacred ceremonies. To this day, it is used to decorate the hands and feet of Indian, African and Middle Eastern brides because women in these regions are only allowed to show this much skin. Henna paste is made from ground henna leaves powder, tea, lemon juice, and eucalyptus oil. Designs are hand-drawn with the paste incased in a plastic tube or applicator. The henna dyes the skin with a maroon stain which lasts 1 to 2 weeks and fades away leaving no visible marks.

Genial George D’Olivo is a kid’s best friend. His company, Classic Amusements, provides exciting rides, games and concessions for special events throughout the West. D’Olivo’s well-maintained equipment, dedicated staff, and selection of sought-after attractions have turned Mountain View Art & Wine Festival into a “can’t miss” event for families. Strap yourself in the Berry-Go-Round ride, turn the wheel and see how fast and loud you can twist and shout. The Froghopper, a favorite, is a guaranteed tummy tickler, taking riders 25’ in the air and bounce dropping them like a frog. Jump for joy on one-of-a-kind themed bouncers. Kids love their colorful appearance and boundless excitement. The bouncers are forced-air inflated with soft “pillow” flooring and walls for maximum safety. There’s a Dr. Seuss-inspired Cat-In-The Hat bounce house and the Tsunami Tidal Wave slide where kids can run, jump and bounce with their play pals.

Show off your arm for some swag! Toss a softball into a basket and win a cool prize from the Mountain View Mayhem Girls Softball team. The Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) will be hosting a free hands-on art activity. One of their professional artists will show kids how to create their own, one-of-a-kind work of art! The Exchange Students with Mountain View’s Sister City hope you’ll drop by their booth to play a game and be creative. Every child will wallk away with a prize. The good folks at the Waldorf School of the Peninsula will show you how to make cool paper crowns decorated with fresh flowers and feathers. The Mad Hatters are a group of active and retired teachers from Mountain View and members of Alpha Lambda. Drop by their booth and custom-build yourself a beautiful, beaded necklace, bracelet, or hat. Hats are made out of newspaper and decorated with flowers, ribbons, and decals.
